Finally, I managed it – thanks to Alex and his nagging!

5 of us got together this lunchtime to talk about photography; how great it is and what we can do to improve.

The rough outline for the next two weeks, Wednesday lunchtimes in C8, if you fancy joining us, is to look at the three stages of; taking, editing and publishing images.

Todays tips were:

1. Fill the frame
2. Using depth of field (focus)
3. Rule of thirds (firds!)

We also looked at  few different cameras, and talked about the relationship between a photographer and his subject. Then we got some practice by taking some photos of the workmen relaying our astro turf.

Things I will do, intend to do, hope to…

• Publish some resources for staff & pupils on using digital photography for learning, promotion and fun… this will be paper and web
• Gather some useful links and resources (I have a stack of photo magazines all ready)
• Set up some Flickr groups for students to share photos themselves
• Give as many people the skills and tools to take more & better photos
• Find some great local photographers to come in and give some lunchtime talks (I think that there is an award winning wildlife photographer in the next village)

One step always generating a dozen more!
